Who was Jayne Hounslow?

The day after the incident, Halton police announced that they had charged a 21-year-old driver with failure to remain at the scene of an accident causing death, which is a Criminal Code charge. Const. Ryan Anderson reported that the driver had fled the scene after hitting Jayne.

Const. Ryan Anderson shared that the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on May 3, during a school theatre event believed to be the school’s spring play. As a parent stopped in the driveway to allow their child to exit the vehicle and enter the school, Jayne was struck by a white SUV exiting the lot. The driver allegedly left the scene without stopping and turned the vehicle westbound on Baldwin Street.

Jayne was transported by ambulance to McMaster Children’s Hospital for emergency medical treatment, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased a short time later.
