In August, he became a topic for headlines after he went missing under suspicious circumstances. Reportedly the Texan pastor left home for work on August 2, 2023, and did not reach Church or its office.
Loveday’s wife learned about the situation when she received a call confirming that Phillip did not show up at work and Church. Soon the search began, and Corpus Christi Police started the search operation.

The morning of August 2, 2023, started like any other day for Phillip Loveday. He left his home at the address of 4900 Cape Vista Ct for work, but this time, he never arrived. The last sighting of the 47-year-old pastor was around 9:45 a.m. as he set out for his day.
The alarm was raised when Phillip’s wife, Melea, received a phone call informing her that her husband had not reached his intended destination. Concerned for his well-being, Melea promptly contacted the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD), initiating a search operation.
As news of Phillip Loveday’s disappearance spread, the community rallied together. Residents, especially those in the rural areas of Coastal Bend/Corpus Christi, were urged to thoroughly inspect their properties for any signs of the missing pastor. The response from the community and the police was swift and determined.
Missing Pastor Phillip Loveday Found Dead
After six days, on August 8, 2023, the police found a vehicle that looked like the one Phillip had along a road in Nueces County, Texas. They were looking really hard for him with help from different police groups.
They found him inside the vehicle, but he had passed away. It was a really sad discovery for everyone. The police didn’t say exactly how he passed away, and they were still trying to find out more.
The police and other experts were working together to figure out what happened to Phillip. They were waiting to hear from doctors who check bodies (they’re called medical examiners) to learn more about why he passed away.
The investigation was still going on, and people were feeling very sad about losing someone who had helped and guided them in their faith.
