How did police track down the suspect in Mike Gill shooting?

In a tragic sequence, the same suspect who fired at Gill’s car fatally shot another driver named Alberto Vasquez Jr., 35, and stole his 2016 gray Chrysler 200. Despite investigators linking these incidents and identifying a suspect, the criminal continued the spree.

Switching from one stolen vehicle to another, the suspect took a Toyota Camry from a ride-share driver in Montgomery County and later switched to a Nissan Rogue in University Park, Prince George’s County.

The violence escalated, with a Nissan involved in a 2:30 a.m. shooting at a Maryland State Police cruiser and a drive-by shooting of a marked DC police car on DC 295 at Exit 1.

Around 4:30 a.m., police in New Carrollton spotted the empty Nissan. Armed with two firearms, the suspect approached officers and was shot dead in a heroic response to the escalating violence.
