McCanna Sinise (age 33, November 10, 1990 – January 5, 2024) was an actor and musician, best known as the son of Gary Sinise. He faced a challenging battle with a rare spinal cancer called Chordoma, which ultimately led to his passing.

Following McCanna’s death, Gary Sinise broke his silence on February 27, 2024, by sharing a heartfelt photo of McCanna on Instagram. Along with the image, Gary provided a link to a tribute page dedicated to his son.

McCanna’s struggle with Chordoma began in August 2018, shortly after his mother, Moira, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Despite undergoing treatment and surgeries, McCanna’s condition worsened over time, eventually leading to his passing in 2024.

McCanna’s Battle With Cancer

McCanna Sinise was diagnosed with chordoma cancer on August 8, 2018. Adding to the family’s challenges, just three months ago, His mom, Moira, got a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis, making it a really tough time for the Sinise family.

Moira had surgery to remove lymph nodes and went through chemotherapy and radiation. Thankfully, after months of treatment, Moira went into remission and has been cancer-free since.

On the other side, McCanna had surgery to remove the first tumor in September 2018 and another procedure on his spine in February 2019 to deal with what seemed like an infection. Sadly, a follow-up scan in May 2019 showed that his Chordoma had come back and was spreading.

This started a long battle that made him weaker over time. Despite the increasing challenges in his fight against cancer, he kept visiting the GSF office for most of 2019 until a third spine surgery in November of that year.

Because of his disability and not being able to play drums or piano anymore, Sinise thought music was a thing of the past. On December 30, 2023, he had to be urgently taken to the emergency room because he had trouble breathing. After getting stable, he was admitted, but sadly, on January 5, 2024, he left this world with his family by his side.
