Brett Oppenheim, born April 12, 1977 (age 47), is the vice president and broker at The Oppenheim Group Real Estate. He’s the top agent in the area, consistently listed among Los Angeles’s top 25 real estate agents.

Brett’s popularity soars due to his role in Netflix’s hit show “Selling Sunsets.” He’s now gearing up for a new series called “Selling The OC,” where he expands his business by opening a second office in Newport Beach. The show features 12 brokers vying to sell their properties.

Brett Oppenheim’s Early life

Brett Oppenheim was born on April 12, 1977, in Palo Alto, California. He currently resides in Hollywood Hills, where he focuses on renovating or developing properties for his portfolio or guiding clients on their projects.

The family’s real estate business roots trace back to his great-great-grandfather, Jacob Stern, passed down through five generations. Brett has a twin brother, Jason Oppenheim, who also works in real estate.

Before entering the family business, Brett and Jason were rebellious youths, often getting into fights and engaging in underage drinking. Their mother, Deborah Oppenheim, sent them to a correctional camp in Idaho at 13 to improve their behavior.

Upon their return, they reverted to their old habits, leading to their expulsion from six high schools. Their father, Bennett Oppenheim, a Vietnam War veteran, intervened to steer his sons onto a better path.

They abandoned their disruptive behavior and pursued successful futures. Brett barely graduated high school but excelled at UC Berkeley, graduating at the top of his class and receiving Phi Beta Kappa honors, the highest recognition a university can bestow. He then pursued law at UCLA.

After completing his studies, Brett practiced law for several years, gaining experience at two international law firms, Skadden, Arps LLP, and Latham & Watkins LLP, before transitioning to the family business.

Brett introduced his girlfriend, Tina Louise, on the show “Selling Sunset” in season 5. Tina, an Australian model, also co-owns restaurants like Sugar Tacos, Azucar Tequila, and The Plant Butchers.

They started dating in 2021, sharing holiday pictures on Instagram regularly. Their relationship lasted 8 months, ending in December of that year for unknown reasons. Despite the breakup, they remain close friends.

Oppenheim now has a new lady in his life, Samantha Abdul, a tattoo artist. They were first seen together on August 13. Despite the distance (she lives in Hamburg, Germany), they manage to meet often.

They went on a trip to Budapest together. Sources say they’re taking it slow, getting to know each other before confirming their relationship.

How did Brett become a successful businessman?

Brett Oppenheim started his career as a lawyer, defending investment banks against claims. However, he realized it wasn’t his passion and shifted gears to enter the real estate industry. Brett dedicated the last decade to this career, and his efforts have paid off.

Today, Brett is recognized as one of Los Angeles’ top brokers. His skill in selling to celebrities, coupled with Netflix providing a platform for two successful shows, “Selling Sunset” (which earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program) and “Selling The OC,” has garnered widespread attention.

Brett’s extensive travel to 75 countries across five continents has allowed him to represent clients and acquire luxury properties globally. Additionally, he has served as a guest speaker for leading corporations and universities, educating and inspiring thousands about real estate.
