All About International Student Febrio De-Zoysa

Febrio De-Zoysa (age 19, born in February 2004) is a young Canadian college student accused of murdering six people at a home in Ottawa. First responders revealed that, upon arriving at the scene of the incident, they found a man yelling for help and six people drenched in blood inside the home.

Five were declared dead at the scene, while the sixth person succumbed to injuries in the hospital. According to the police, it was a senseless act of violence, and the motive is yet to be determined. Those who lost their lives included a mother with her four children and a person who was her acquaintance.

The police have arrested Zoysa, who was at the place of the murder when the police arrived. According to documents, he has been charged with six counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

What Happened On The Day Of Murder? 

On March 6, 2024, Dhanushka Wickramasinghe, who had arrived in Canada a year earlier from Sri Lanka, was at his job in Ottawa. Upon opening the door, he was attacked by Febrio De-Zoysa, who stabbed him in the chest and face with a knife.

Prior to attacking Wickramasinghe, Zoysa had already stabbed Wickramasinghe’s wife, four kids, and an acquaintance named Amarakoonmubiayansela Ge Gamini Amarakoon.

Soon after a 911 call, Ottawa Police arrived at the scene and discovered a badly injured Wickramasinghe and six others. Febrio, who did not escape the crime scene, was taken into custody and charged with one count of attempted murder and six counts of murder.

During the investigation, the police learned that Febrio used to live with the Sri Lankan family, although Harpreet Chhabra, the owner of the house, stated that he did not know that Zoysa lived with the Wickramasinghe family.

As of now, the police have not determined the reason behind the stabbing, but efforts are being made to uncover what motivated the young man for such a heinous act.

Wickramasinghe’s Considered Zoysa a Family Member

In February 2005, Febrio De-Zoysa (age 19) was born into a Hispanic family in Canada. While details about Febrio’s life are limited, it is known that he spent a significant part of his childhood in Ottawa.

According to sources, after finishing high school, Zoysa resided with the Dhanushka Wickramasinghe family. Dhanushka treated Febrio as a member of his own family.

In fact, it has been revealed that a few weeks before the series of murders, Dhanushka and his wife organized a birthday party for the young man.
